Just about getting by?
If you’re not in debt but still facing rising costs you can still take practical steps to manage your money. Here are some tips:
Make a budget
Use a budget tool like MoneyHelper online budget planner to get on top of spending or check out Managing your Money.
Change payment dates
Make sure that regular payments like direct debits or standing orders go out just after you have money coming into your account. This way you are less likely to have payment refused because of lack of funds.
Pay essential expenses and priority debts first
The MoneyHelper How to prioritise your debts guide explains why this is important in more detail.
Get in touch
Talk to people and companies that you owe money to, explain your situation and see if you can make your repayments more manageable.
Make sure we have your mobile number
For free text alerts, please make sure we have your most up-to-date mobile number. You can update it on the mobile app or on 365 online.
