Getting Started with Money Insights 365 (Mi 365)

What exactly is Mi 365

Mi 365 gives you regular information – called insights¹ – about what’s happening with your money.

It will highlight things like, how much of your spending is going on rent or groceries compared to what you’ve spent on clothes shopping or nights out, making it really easy to see how you could manage things better.

As well as spending insights, Mi 365 will help you stay on top of your accounts, bills and subscriptions so you always know where you stand.

For example, it will let you know things like:

• Your bill has just increased
• You’ve just received a refund from a retailer
• You’re spending more than usual this month on a specific category
• Your subscription costs have increased
• Your cash flow this month is lower or higher than usual

You’ll also be able to recategorize your spending and compare your spending over the past 6 months.

Everything you need to know

If you already have the app, you’ll find summary insights already in place on the home screen and you can click on each insight to get the full detail.

Basically it’s really user-friendly so the best way to see what it can do is to try it out for yourself and get a feel for how it works. And, of course, if you have any questions click on the additional information below.

• What is Mi 365?
  Put simply, Mi 365 gives you regular information – called insights – about what’s happening with your money, so you can get a better idea of how to make it work harder for you.
  
• How will Mi 365 help me manage my money?
  Mi 365 will help you manage your day-to-day finances with timely tips and advice while keeping track of your spending.

  The insights will highlight things like how much of your spending is going on rent or groceries compared to what you’ve spent on clothes shopping or nights out, making it really easy to see how you could manage things better.
  

• How is Mi 365 personalised to me?
  Mi 365 presents insights on your transactions or when money goes into or leaves your account so you always know where you stand.

  For example, it will let you know things like:

  • You’ve just been paid
  • You’ve just received a refund from a retailer
  • You’re spending more than usual this month on a specific category
  • You’ve spent money with a supplier you haven’t bought from before
  • Your cash flow this month is lower of higher than usual
• Will the Basic Cash account get insights?
  No, the Basic Cash account cannot currently receive insights.
  
• What type of accounts is Mi 365 available on?
  Insights will be available to any personal current account holder who uses the app.
  

Using Insights

• Where do I see my Insights?
  Upon signing into the bank’s mobile app, Insights will be visible in a carousel on the home screen, underneath your accounts. Insights are only available in the Bank of Ireland mobile app and are not available on desktop online banking or on the tablet app.
  
• Who can get Insights?
  All personal customers who have a current account, excluding basic cash account holders, with the bank and use our mobile app will receive Insights. Insights will automatically appear in your mobile app, and you won’t need to sign up to this service. Customers with a Basic cash account or personal credit card will not have access to Mi 365.
  
• How can I see past insights?
  Insights remain in your “insights inbox” for 35 days after the insight was generated. To access the inbox, click “See more insights” below your Insight carousel on the home screen of the app. Cash flow and spend insights will show data for 6 months.
  
• How long do I have to check my insights?
  Insights will appear on the carousel on the app home screen for a limited number of days. Insights remain in your “insights inbox” for 35 days after the insight was generated. Cash flow and spend insights will show data for 6 months.
  

Manage your Insights

• Control Insights you see
  If there is a specific insight that you want to stop receiving, simply give this insight a low rating. Rating the insight negatively, will stop it from being presented for a period of time.
  
• Why am I not seeing insights now?
  We likely do not have any new insights to share with you. We do our best to only share insights that are important for you personally.
  
• My insight is wrong. Can you update it?
  We’re sorry to hear this. Please leave a comment below the insight so our team can review the insight and fix it in the future.
  
• How do I recategorise a transaction?
  To recategorise a transaction, simply tap on the transaction. A pop up will open with a category drop down menu that contains over 30 categories you can chose from. Select the most appropriate category. A tick box option will also be visible. This will allow future transactions from the merchant to appear in the selected category.
  
• My Money In is higher than my income, is this incorrect?
  Money in is more than your income. It is the total amount received into your accounts and credit cards. This means it includes any payments to your credit card or transfers into your accounts For example if you have a salary of 2,300 and you pay 500 to your credit card. Your total money in will be 2800 (2,300 + 500).
  
• My Spending Increase insight is not showing my full monthly spend
  An insight which highlights that you have spent more in a particular category over the month includes transactions the app can see at that point. This insight will not update once you have received it. So your actual full monthly spend in that category may be higher.
  
• Can I use Mi 365 to remind me when payments are due?
  Mi 365 provides Insights that are guides only and alerts and insights received may vary from month to month. They should not be relied upon as a reminder for payments due.
  
• I don’t recognise a transaction in my insight, what should I do?
  If you do not recognise a transaction on your account, you should always investigate it. Tap here for more information which might help.
  
• How can I amend or remove my brand logo from insights?
  Tap on https://personetics.com/boi-financial-wellbeing and complete your details. We will address your issue as quickly as possible.
  

Data FAQs

• How are insights generated?
  We analyse your historical transaction information, balances and account information to generate relevant insights.

  Insights typically analyse transaction activity over the last six months.
  

• Is my information safe?
  Don’t worry. We don’t share your personal or financial info with third parties. Your details stay secure in our data centres and are only being used to provide your insights.
  
• Will Insights include recent transactions?
  If you made a transaction today, you will need to wait until the transaction is complete for the activity to be reflected in your insights; this may take 1-3 days. Purchases made over the weekend will be visible in insights the following week.
  
• How often are there new insights?
  New insights can be generated any time you log in. The more frequently you use your Bank of Ireland UK account(s), the more insights you’re likely to get. Customers that regularly use their account, typically receive 4-8 new insights a month.
  
• My predicted activity doesn’t include all my expenditure.
  Expenditure needs to be consistent over the course of 4 months to be included in this insight.
  
• My monthly spend insight doesn’t include all my expenditure.
  This insight only displays spend on debit and credit card, it does not include transfers, direct debits and standing orders.
