A special production of “Murder She Didn’t Write”, performed by the Bristol theatre troupe, Degrees of Error, and sponsored by Bank of Ireland UK, was a successful feature of the Bristol Pride 2021 programme this week.
The five-day theatre event, which was attended by the Rt Hon Lord Mayor of Bristol, Cllr Steve Smith, took place at the Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol and the talented cast created an original and hilarious murder-mystery, with on-the-spot improvisations using suggestions from the audience.
Fundraising for Pride, proceeds from the nights also went to supporting the artists and the Wardrobe Theatre, a vital community asset in Bristol.
There was also a pre-recorded online show called “Conversations” by Rob Ward, which was available via the Bristol Pride website https://bristolpride.co.uk/events/conversations/
Daryn Carter, MBE- Bristol Pride Team, said: “It’s been incredible to be back in the theatre and with such an hilarious show which has bought moments of much needed laughter as we celebrate Pride. We are thankful to the Bank of Ireland’s support which enabled us to make this show happen. After a year without our theatres open and performers unable to perform, this support allowed us to continue to host social distanced events. I’d like to also thank the cast of Degrees of Error who are performing 5 nights for us this year and to the Wardrobe opening up to host the show. It’s showed a true collaborative community spirit for Pride and has been something truly special.
Ricki Hale, Pride Employee Network, Bank of Ireland UK, said: “We’re proud to show our support for this unique theatre event, as part of Bristol Pride 2021, which combines great Pride events with a strong community ethos. At Bank of Ireland we believe in enabling every colleague to grow and develop in an inclusive workplace, which reflects the diversity of our customers, colleagues and communities. Pride is a great celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re pleased and proud to be involved.
